Materials for the Training

Welcome to the From Expert to Influencer Presentation Coaching Programme

It is a great honour to support you in developing and practising the skills you need for impactful communication and confident, skilful presentations. You can look forward to intensive coaching sessions filled with positive challenges, inspiring conversations and practical opportunities to strengthen your skills.

I’m Niina Sainius, a trainer specialising in impactful communication and presentation skills.

In 2004, I became the first trainer in Finland to use the title Presentation Coach. At the time, esiintymisvalmennus was a completely new Finnish term, and it perfectly captured my approach: I wanted to coach the techniques of impactful presenting in much the same way an athlete trains for performance – through practice, feedback and continuous development.

Since then, I have had the privilege of helping tens of thousands of professionals develop their presentation skills and become more confident and impactful presenters.

My goal is to share with you the most valuable insights I have distilled over the years. We will naturally explore the art of presenting by presenting and by preparing presentation materials. I promise you constructive, individually tailored and uplifting feedback that supports your development.

The training is based on experiential learning techniques, and we will work interactively throughout the sessions. So please come prepared with questions and an open mind!

All preparation instructions, assignments to be completed during the training, and downloadable materials can be found on this page. Please save the link to this page for easy access throughout the training. You will also find the login instructions for the online course materials associated with the training at the bottom of this page.

I look forward to our inspiring encounters!

I’d be delighted to connect with you on LinkedIn.

Please Review Before the Training

Start your learning by watching this 10-minute video, which introduces the first practical steps towards impactful presenting.

The training consists of three parts

Read the preparation instructions for each part

Part 1 on-site coaching

We will practise the fundamental techniques of presenting and influencing, as well as the power tools of non-verbal communication.

PREPARATION
Watch the 10-minute video on this page about the steps to impactful presenting. Think about situations in your working life for which you would like to receive tips during the coaching.

Part 2 on-site coaching

An impactful presenter, delivering an expert talk, knows how to prepare supporting materials such as PowerPoint slides for a presentation.

In this part, we will practise how to plan a presentation so that it achieves its intended objective. We will learn to distil messages for various professional presenting situations into something impactful, using the Magic Formula for Impactful Presentation Materials™ that I have developed.

I know that after this part of the coaching, everyone will be able to strengthen and condense their key message and prepare visually polished and clear PowerPoint slides. With these new skills, your presentation materials will serve simultaneously as support materials for the presenter and as readable handouts for the audience.

PREPARATION
Think about which topic and which target audience you would like to build a presentation script for during the coaching. If you prefer, you can also develop a presentation you already use frequently.

Part 3 on-site coaching

Finally, we get to practise the impactful presenting techniques from Part 1 with a real presentation that you have prepared using the lessons from the previous coaching session.

Everyone agrees that this part of the coaching is the most rewarding and enjoyable! So do not lose any sleep or worry too much about the presenting situation.

I promise you that after your presentation, you will be pleasantly surprised by how impactfully you can present once you get to try out the techniques. The practice presentations (approx. 2 x 3 minutes) are recorded on video so that your strengths as a presenter and your development can be observed together.

First, we will note your natural strengths and consider which techniques you could practise to increase your personal impact. The second time, you will try out techniques based on the feedback so that you can see their effect. You will therefore present the opening part of your presentation first and then continue it during the second practice round. If it happens that your presentation only covers enough material for the first recording, you can simply present the same section again.

During the coaching, you will receive personalised, developmental and uplifting feedback on your overall communication, presentation materials and presenting from both me and your colleagues.

You will be given clear instructions for continuing to practise. In addition, you will learn how to support your colleagues in practising impactful presenting. PREPARATION Prepare at least approximately 5–6 minutes of a presentation in which you apply the lessons covered in Part 2.

Your presentation support materials should include the following elements:

  • A catchphrase / a power sentence – a complete, information-rich sentence that crystallises your main message, written on a slide by itself
  • 2 or 3 arguments or supporting points for the catchphrase, written on separate slides
  • A research-based fact, or a line, pie or bar chart, or a prominently displayed number highlighting something of communicative significance
  • One image that you use while speaking
  • Slide titles written in a news-headline style, containing each slide’s most important information
  • One of the slides written out in the notes section according to the instructions If you do not have time to prepare an entirely new presentation, you can rework the beginning of an existing presentation by rebuilding the slides using the elements of the Magic Formula and moving any excess text into the notes section.

Analyse your self-introduction in preparation for Part 3 of the training

Analyse your own self-introduction – the video you recorded on your phone during Part 1 of the coaching. Check whether your opening includes all the elements presented in the exercise. Check what kind of attitude and energy you convey. Watch your body language and note which movements suit the introduction and whether there is anything you could leave out next time.

Listen in the second video to what your speaking voice sounds like when you are presenting something while using your hands. Compare it with your self-introduction. What differences do you notice? Is there anything you would like to change, for example tempo, intonation or articulation?

Practise your self-introduction and the opening of your presentation at home in front of a full-length mirror as many times as it takes until you are satisfied. This will ensure that in the recorded presentation exercise in Part 3, you feel confident and that both your words and non-verbal communication support your expertise.

Part 4 of the Training: Analyse and Reflect

Enjoy Yourself on Stage!

You now have an excellent opportunity to revisit and reflect on what you learned during the training by watching the video of your second presentation and using the Esiintymisenkieli™ checklist. You received the checklist as a paper copy during the training.

Watch your presentation “through my eyes”: What can you already do clearly and confidently? Which impactful presentation techniques are you using this time? And what 2–3 things could you do even more effectively next time?

Take a look at the little notes you received during the training, as well as the feedback forms from your presentations. You will find encouraging and inspiring observations in all of the feedback.

Remember Your Success!

Remember what it felt like to hear that your presentation had succeeded. Remember the strengths others recognised in you, and how your audience looked at you and listened to what you had to say. You have every right to shine in your everyday presentation situations too!

Bring those positive feelings back to mind before future presentations. Step in front of your audience with confidence and a positive mindset, trusting that you have something unique to share – something that no one else in the room could say in quite the same way.

That is why you were chosen!

Keep Practising Every Day!

You will find a presentation feedback form on this page that you can print and use whenever you would like to receive feedback on your presentations in the future. The most relevant feedback will usually come from someone who has completed the same training as you. Of course, the feedback may be somewhat different if the person giving it has not attended my training.

Please also remember that you have access to the Yli 100 Vinkkiä vaikuttamiseen online course materials.

The videos on this page will be removed on 31 December 2026. If you would like me to remove your video earlier, simply send me a screenshot of your video at niina@esiintymisvalmennus.fi, and I will take care of it.

Joy in making an impact!

It was an honour to be your trainer!

Looking forward to seeing you again, Niina Sainius
